Former Cop Among Six Booked For Trying To

Usurp Prime Land

A former cop, who was dismissed from service for his alleged criminal activities, has been booked along with five others for trying to usurp a prime land by cheating and forgery. The list of accused named in the fir registered with satara police station also includes the name of the cop’s brother and three women. A few days ago,the cop and his supporters were arrested on the charges of attempt to murder and rioting after a clash between two groups. In the latest offence, based on the complaint lodged by a 39-year-old woman, the six suspects have been booked on the charges of cheating, forgery, possession of forged documents, extortion, making gestures intended at outraging the modesty of a woman, criminal intimidation and criminal conspiracy. The woman, in her complaint, said the suspects in connivance with the revenue department employees, hatched a criminal conspiracy to usurp 30 guntha of prime land she inherited from her father. The woman has stated that she and her mother along with their respective families reside on the said premises situated in gate umber 14 (survey number 10) for decades.

The suspects allegedly got a general power of attorney (gpa) signed from a woman who had nothing to do with the piece of land. Using this gpa, the suspects in connivance with the then talathi of satara got their names mutated on the 7/12 as well as on the revenue record. Recently, the accused reached out to the prime plot and threatened the woman and her mother with dire consequences asking them to vacate the plot. The accused falsely claimed of being a serving cop and allegedly demanded money. Fed up with the frequent threats, the woman reached out to the police on thursday and lodged a complaint. When contacted, senior inspector anil adhe said none of the accused named in the fir have been arrested, but efforts are on to round them up.
